Lobster Season Officially Open in Florida

Last Tuesday was the official start of lobster season in Florida. There was a flood of divers and snorkelers in the Keys searching for the delicious crustacean. Lobster season, which runs until March 31, is celebrated by commercial and recreational fishermen. Recently, recreational fishermen have harvested 1.3 million pounds a year, while the commercial fishermen capture a hefty 4.4 million pounds. Lobster fishing is best in the Keys and along the East coast of Florida. So pack up the kids and snorkel gear and enjoy the freshest (and cheapest) seafood you will ever find! Be sure to check local rules and regulations before diving.
