Growing up in my childhood, I was always around art. My parents, my sister, and yes, myself, were accomplished vocalist. My grandmother was a quilter. Everyone in my family had and artistic side. It's hard to find a place that you can bring your artistic side to life without costing an arm and a leg. In Southwest Florida, we have a place that artists can just be themselves, and you, the community, can enjoy the art, learn more about your art, and even try to appease your artistic side yourself. It's called the Lee County Alliance for the Arts.
Founded in 1975, the Alliance was made to do one basic thing in such a big way: foster the arts and art culture. A 10 and a half acre campus in the heart of Fort Myers helps the Alliance open the art world up to all of Southwest Florida. Whether your art is singing, acting, painting, sculpting, or anything else you can think of, it is welcomed with open arms. The Foulds Theater seats 175 people and is home of Theater Conspiracy, a local theater company. There is several classrooms, 3 art galleries, and even an outdoor amphitheater, where you can enjoy a picnic with movie night, an outdoor movie, and great company of friends and family. Coolers and picnic baskets are encouraged! Even the culinary arts get a space at the Alliance, with a green market held on the weekends featuring fresh, local food and produce.
A $50 donation to the Alliance makes you a member, including gallery entrances, members only events, and other special perks. $75 gets your whole family membership. College students wishing to experience the art culture get a discount, with a $15 membership.
Stop by the Alliance today and speak with their staff. Let them give you a tour and show you everything the Alliance offers to the art enthusiast everywhere. They are open everyday but Sunday. The arts are alive and well, and right here in SWFL! Check out the Alliance's official website below:

2013 has come and gone. All of us at Keller Williams hope you had a safe and happy holiday season. Southwest Florida has seem many changes over the past year, both good and bad, and there is a lot in store for 2014. We have seen the addition of Hertz, the world's largest car rental agency build it's headquarters right here in Estero, bringing hundreds of jobs and income to the area. We saw the Boston Red Sox give us a beautiful new Spring training facility that has brought concerts, shows, and many other events that Fort Myers has not had the ability to hold in the past.
We are also starting to see an upswing in home values in the area. This is wonderful news for anyone either looking to move here or anyone who owns a home here. Real estate value says a lot about the economy in your town. A rise in home prices shows growth in the commercial side as well as residential side. Real estate closing contracts are at an all time high for transactions each month. And the number only goes up every month. The same goes for commercial real estate. Businesses are popping up everywhere. Anything from small businesses to huge corporations are finding profit right here is SWFL.
So what can we expect from 2014. Well no one knows for sure, but I have my thoughts. We can expect to see growth in both commercial and residential sales. We will see even more mega businesses decide to make SWFL their home. We should also see more small businesses take their chances in SWFL to grow and expand. This area is booming and getting better day after day. So it's time to hop on the roller coaster that is SWFL! It may be a bumpy ride, but one things for sure, it's gonna be fun!
